Consortium
Since 1996, the
GHSU Ryan White Outreach Team
has provided free, confidential HIV testing, education, counseling and treatment referrals at testing sites throughout the Aiken-Augusta area. The team is supported through a Ryan White Part C Grant, which provides funding for early intervention services and treatment.
The mission of the outreach team is early intervention. Early detection and early treatment are key factors to living with HIV/AIDS. Thanks to advances in treatment, those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS can now live long and productive lives, if they receive proper, regular treatment.
Testing involves use of the
OraQuick Advance
Rapid HIV antibody test, a simple oral test in which a swab of the inside of the mouth is taken and developed on-site. Confidential results are available after 20 minutes. Testing is available several times a week. See the
TESTING CALENDAR
for upcoming dates, times and locations.
